Description of Writtle University College Summer Camp

Writtle University College Summer Camp is located in the eponymous urban area, combining modern buildings and Buildings of Victorian style. The city is famous for its magnificent rural suburbs, many parks, attractions.

For the diverse development of students, several English language courses, sports academies are offered. Highly qualified personnel participate in the training of children, accompanying students to classes, events, additional circles.

The age range of holidaymakers in Chelmsford is 11-17 years. For those under 12 years old, managers take full responsibility.

For 14 days of stay in the camp, children are offered:

  • One-day tour to London, river cruise on the Thames
  • Tour to Cambridge for the whole day with a walk along the River Kem
  • Day trip to Canterbury, visit to Canterbury Cathedral
  • A day trip to Hastings, a visit to the Museum of True Crimes
  • 2 half-day excursions to Chelmsford.

The three-week program additionally includes:

  • One-day visit to London Eye
  • Full day tour to Oxford.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Chelmsford uses several dormitories: Hamilton (Halls A-B), Tabor (Halls C-E), Strutt (Hall F), Harvey (Hall G).

Accommodation features:

  • Halls A-E: accommodation with bathrooms
  • Hall F: standard single rooms, 6 showers, 4 toilets on the floor
  • Hall G: standard single rooms, 1 shower, 2 toilets per floor.

Students are provided with a key card to the living rooms. All camp visitors can use the mobile app to search for information and services.

A cafeteria and dining room are located on campus. The cafeteria serves about 150 students with any dietary needs.

Classic Plus Dance, Football, Rugby Academy

  • Age: 11-17 years
  • Duration: 2-3 weeks
  • Classes: up to 15 students.

Highly qualified coaches in the football academy conduct two-hour football sessions - 5.7 or 11 games per shift. They consist of warm-up, practicing skills: passing, leading, attacking, defending, selecting the ball. Football competitions and Spartakiads are held.

For football lessons you will need:

  • Sportswear: T-shirt, shorts, sports socks
  • Sports shoes
  • Water bottle.

If desired, students can use football boots, shin pads or other equipment.

Rugby school teaches skills such as passes, kicks, "corridors", defense. Within three hours, the rules of the game are studied, skills are practiced, a tournament is held. The clothing requirements for rugby are the same as for footballers.

In the dance academy, students are taught pair dance. Training lasts for 80 minutes with a 20-minute break. Students will learn to dance salsa, hip-hop, jazz, modern trends.

For classes you will need:

  • Sportswear: T-shirt, shorts, sports socks

  • Water bottle.

At football and dance academies, curators invite students to talk to each other in English to improve their level in an extracurricular setting.

When studying at the academies, students will visit:

  • 4 full day workouts with a professional trainer
  • 2 full-time excursions to the UK capital
  • Tour to Cambridge
  • Trip to Canterbury
  • 2 half-day excursions to Chelmsford.

For a longer stay, additionally provide:

  • 2 additional afternoon workouts with a professional trainer
  • A full day visit to London, Oxford.

Kidzania Experience

  • Age: 10-14 years
  • Duration: 14 days
  • Grades: 15-20 people
  • Price: £40 per week per student.

Kidzania Experience is a program consisting of 6 interactive lessons for 14 days. It helps students aged 10 to 14 years to understand what they would like to do in life, to identify their creative abilities. At the end of the training, children will be able to:

  • Learn about the skills, abilities that are needed for a wound job
  • Understand the difference in salaries in different jobs
  • Form budgeting tactics
  • Make choices, make decisions, manage your life plan based on your desires.

Young Manager

  • Age: 14-17 years
  • Duration: 14 days
  • Minimum level of English: B1
  • Grades: 15-20 students
  • Price: £50 per week per student.

30 hours of training for two weeks will allow students to study various working areas, the labor market, write a resume, learn how to conduct business negotiations. Pupils of the camp study:

  • Development of colloquial speech, listening
  • Improvement of fluency, reading
  • Interaction skills
  • Business Letter
  • Negotiation skills
  • Resume writing
  • Development of business ideas
  • Teamwork, group dynamics.

After studying the theory, students practice in groups by methods of debate, brainstorming, speeches.

Facilities and equipment at Writtle University College Summer Camp

Classes are located on campus, each of them is designed for 15 children. They are equipped with computers, projectors, interactive whiteboards.

Sports facilities on campus: outdoor - football fields, tennis courts, indoor - sports halls.

Also on site there are:

  • Banks, ATMs
  • Round-the-clock video surveillance, security
  • Medical center of first aid, medical surgery.

The nearest supermarket is a 15-minute walk away. Between the airports and the campus there are transfers, public transport, a bus stop is located opposite the summer camp. The railway station is located near the campus, from it trains depart to London - the journey takes several minutes.
