The Language Gallery (English Language School) is an English language school that is part of the global higher education network Global University Systems, which has 42 centers with about 78,000 students from around the world. The Language Gallery offers students English language courses and university preparation programs. British campuses are located in London, Birmingham and Nottingham.

Educational process

Education takes place according to the SMART Learning system - the study of one topic by all students during the year. This allows students to have a reason for acquaintance and discussion, regardless of the level of their language knowledge, to progress faster in their studies.

General English Course

  • Age – from 16 years
  • The training period is from 1 week.

The General English course is designed for those who are currently at the level from beginner level A1 to level Upper Intermediate B2+. By taking this English course, students will develop practical communication skills in speaking and writing, reading and listening and, of course, in speaking fluency and grammatical accuracy. Students will be able to increase their confidence in using language skills for everyday purposes: work, study, travel or personal interests.

Personal schedules can include 15, 19 or 21 hours of lessons per week.

Academic English

  • Age – from 18 years
  • The training period is from 1 week.

The academic English course is a language preparation for university studies. In addition to strengthening existing knowledge, students will master new grammatical and lexical skills, develop critical thinking, learn how to conduct presentations in English and take university exercises.

To study at the course, the student needs a language level not lower than B1. Lessons are held for 15 hours a week with the possibility to take 4 or 6 hours of additional classes.

IELTS Preparation

  • Age – from 18 years
  • The training period is from 2 weeks.

IELTS is an international English language testing system and the world's most popular test required in higher education institutions. By completing this course, students will be able to prepare for the exam, improve language skills and gain the experience necessary for both admission and for obtaining a visa or work.

The class schedule consists of 15 hours per week and an additional 4-6 hours alone with the teacher at will.

English for Women

  • Age – from 18 years
  • The training period is from 4 weeks.

This General English course is for women only, and the material is also taught by female teachers. It includes theory and practice to improve the quality of spoken language and the perception of language by ear. Through an atmosphere of friendship and support, women can improve their knowledge and communicate – having fun and relaxing is key to the learning process of this course.

International preparatory programs are designed to prepare international students for a bachelor's degree at one of the universities in the UK.

These courses are designed to improve both students' English and the academic skills required for admission to a higher education institution. The program is presented in three directions:

  • Business
  • Health care
  • Engineering.

The schedule contains 24 hours of classes per week. The course can last 15 or 30 weeks (accelerated or conventional options).

Pre-Sessional Pathway Programme

This program is designed for international students who need to improve their language skills to enter any of the 18 partner universities of The Language Gallery for a bachelor's or master's degree. Upon successful completion of the course, the student does not need to take IELTS for the entry requirements.

Depending on the initial level of knowledge, the program can last from eight weeks until its successful completion - passing the final tests.

Pre-Masters Programme in Business

  • Age – from 18 years
  • The training period is 15 or 30 weeks.

The programme is designed for international students wishing to obtain a Master's degree in Business from a UK university. The course will allow students to improve academic, linguistic and socio-cultural skills.

Students can choose from two program options: 15 or 30 weeks depending on the initial level of the language.

Homestay
As our centres are in multicultural cities, you can take the opportunity to stay with families
from different backgrounds. Here you will be immersed in local culture and language by
living in a family environment.
Homestay accommodation is a great place to practice your English outside of the classroom.
All homestay houses offer a clean and comfortable room and different meal plans are
available to meet your needs.

 Studio apartments
We offer private accommodation for your stay, which is usually centrally located. Studio
apartments are available for individuals or couples.

Activities The Language Gallery Nottingham

After school hours, students of The Language Gallery can explore the sights of the city of Nottingham:

  • Visit the oldest pub in England,
  • Go on an excursion to the National Museum of Justice, Nottingham Castle, the Art Gallery,
  • Stroll through the gardens of Wollaton Hall and Deer Park to see the house of Batman from the movie "The Rise of the Dark Knight" and herds of red deer,
  • Visit the UK's largest exhibition of multicultural art,
  • Take a day trip to the mountains of the Peak District National Park, Sherwood Forest.

The school organizes trips around the city, most of which are free of charge. In them, students can put into practice the knowledge gained in the classroom, study the culture and enjoy the beauties of the city. Some trips take place outside of Nottingham - students will be able to visit Stonehenge, Manchester and Scotland, go to continental Europe: Belgium, France, Holland and Germany. Such tours will cost students 25-225 £.

On-campus parties help students make friends and have fun. They are organized quite often, and the ticket price varies from 5 to 25 £.

The school also organizes electives: they are open to everyone who would like to learn English more often than regular classes. The courses teach students in four directions:

  • Preparation for IELTS,
  • Writing an academic essay,
  • Letter
  • Speaking.

The elective requires a weekly payment:

  • 4 hours per week – 44,99£
  • 6 hours per week – 66,99£.

Students also have the opportunity to study individually in those areas of language practice in which they experience difficulties. The cost of one one-to-one hour with a teacher is £ 60.

Enrolment process

On the first day of enrollment, students take a language test to determine from the knowledge.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Course requirements vary from level of English proficiency. The school accepts students from A1 to B2+, the minimum level of education for the IELTS course is Intermediate B1.

To enter the Foundation preparatory courses, you will need:

  • Most courses require a Beginner level - from A1.
  •  Min level of English for the IELTS Preparation course is Intermediate B1.

The courses can be completed both full-time and online.
