Napier University's Summer School provides high-quality, interesting and effective programmes on campus at the University of Edinburgh. Students from all over the world gather on the campus of the university to take courses in English: on the campus in Scotland, an intensive English language program for academic and general development is presented for study. It accepts students from 12 to 18 years old.

English for Academic Purposes

  • Age of students - from 12 to 18 years,
  • The period is from two weeks.

The English language program, taught by qualified teachers, will be a strong impetus in the development of conversational skills. The learning process is built on communication between teachers and students both in group and individual lessons. Due to the large amount of personal attention that the teacher allocates to each student, all students achieve excellent results in comparison with the level with which they entered the program.

The basis of the course is the bases of learning English: vocabulary, oral speech and listening comprehension, reading and grammar. For 2-3-4 weeks from June to July, students will attend 27 hours of weekly lessons: 12 in General English, 15 in Academic. Each of the areas will give students an excellent base for confident and fluent speech, understanding of the English-speaking population and knowledge that will help them in further education.

The price of the course consists of classes, accommodation, three meals a day, extracurricular activities and field trips to Glasgow, to the sights of Edinburgh and to Stirling.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students can relax in the modern boarding house, which is equipped with 100 apartments. The living quarters accommodate four to six single bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a seating area. The pension is within walking distance from the academic building and public places: the city center and attractions, cafes, restaurants, entertainment centers.

Students are provided with three meals a day - breakfasts, lunches and dinners, prepared from fresh and healthy products. Lunches can be packed if students leave for an excursion.

Activities Napier University Summer School

Thanks to the convenient location of the campus, located in the center of Edinburgh, students have access to the city's transport network and can reach both nearby and quite distant attractions. The summer school programme includes excursions to Loch Lomond and Stirling Castle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The campus regularly organizes sports competitions in team and individual sports, evenings of cinema and board games, talent shows and discos.

Facilities and equipment at Napier University Summer School

Students of the summer school have access to many comfortable and modern premises for both study and leisure:

  • Residential building with apartments, areas for self-study, recreation and communication,
  • Bright classrooms in which classes are held, equipped with technological equipment: video and audio equipment, interactive whiteboards, wired Internet connection,
  • Leisure studios, including a theater class,
  • Sports facilities: outdoor areas for team games, gym.

High-speed WiFi is available throughout the school.

In all classes, students are supported and guided by experienced teachers: from English teachers and educational staff to professional sports coaches and medical professionals.

Admission dates and extra charges

The curriculum lasts a maximum of four weeks , from the beginning of June to the end of July. Students can choose a shorter option: two or three weeks of lifelong learning. The daily schedule includes attending classes, three meals a day at certain hours, attending events and excursions, free time for hobbies and chatting with new friends.

Most of the necessary services are already included in the course price, but in addition and if necessary, you will need to pay for a transfer from and to the airport, extracurricular activities that are not included in the program, pocket money.

Enrolment process

To enter a summer school, you need to go through several stages: fill out a registration application and attach personal documents, wait for an invitation to the campus for acquaintance and testing of English language proficiency. Applicants are divided into groups according to language level and age.

During the application process, you must pay 10% of the total cost of the program in the form of a deposit in order to book a place in the classroom and residence.

Perspectives

Students seriously improve their skills in their chosen program, knowledge of the English language. The certificate that they receive after completing the course can be presented when entering a university or college, thereby proving their qualifications.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Strict requirements for applicants to the program are not imposed, since the enrollment goes in accordance with the age and serious desire of the student. Foreign students will need to provide personal documents, among which the following are mandatory:

  • Passport, active at the time of admission and until the end of the stay on campus,
  • Health insurance and vaccination certificate.

- for Foundation and Pathway programs, IELTS and TOEFL certificates are usually required, respectively

- the deadline normally closes in January, for TOP HEIs and, as a rule, in March in other universities
- for a bachelor, a Foundation or Pathway preparatory program a completed A-level, IB, High School + IELTS / TOEFL are required
- for Masters you need a graduated higher education, in some cases you need a pre-Masters program
- MBA requires completed higher education, work experience preferably at least 2-3 years, etc.
