Southbank International School is an independent high school located in one of London's greenest suburbs. The IB Primary School (PYP) program teaches young children. Through the game-based learning, the course involves and stimulates young students, promotes academic, personal, social development.

The curriculum is based on six topics that are studied using skills and knowledge acquired in six subject areas, as well as on the playground and with participation in extracurricular activities.

Middle Years Program (MYP)

Middle Years Program (MYP) provides the education needed for students from 11 to 16 years old. Thanks to a thorough study of eight traditional subject areas and six global topics, participation in extracurricular activities and community service, the course helps students:

  • The Hampstead Campus is located in the Netherhall Gardens, close to public, private transport, from Hampstead Heath, one of London's largest open spaces.
  • English is the main language of instruction, Spanish is the second language of the school. Linguistic training is conducted from the age of five (kindergarten), English as an additional language (EAL) lessons are also offered from kindergarten. The EAL teacher team has extensive experience in selecting the necessary EAL support based on the needs of the child and their current level of English proficiency.
  • The Hampstead Campus integrates language skills teaching in all areas of the PYP curriculum. Students learn English, Spanish, native language, EAL.   • Under the program of fine art, students study the basics of architecture, ceramics, collage, costume design, drawing, graphic design, cinema, illustrations, painting, photography, engraving, sculpture.   • Music courses focuse on composition, introduces students to music from different eras and countries. All students from 5 years old learn to play the violin, viola or cello, and in grades 4-5 they get the opportunity to learn to play the guitar or flute.
  • MYP drama courses help students get an idea of drama and theater in modern society: children have the opportunity to expand their own dramatic, presentation skills, develop search or design skills, make sets, costumes, props, work with lighting, and produce sound.
  • The cinematography course allows DP students to fully immerse themselves in the practical, theoretical, conceptual aspects of film production. This includes visual storytelling, scripting, production planning, the use of a lighting kit, recording equipment, and editing. The course is an excellent preparation for any student who wants to study film theory, film production or any art or communication course at the university who wants to work in the film industry.
  • The theater course teaches students DP theory, the practice of theater art, includes the study of modern theater around the world, the history of the theater. The course helps students develop their own dramatic skills, presentations, teaches them to choose sources, design, construct sets, costumes, props, stage lighting, sound production.
  • The art program includes a wide range of excursions in London, beyond. They give students a fantastic opportunity to watch performances, works of art, films, concerts of world-class artists in the UK.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

  • Admission is based on the results of previous studies, reports, recommendations, compatibility with the program of initial years of study.
  • Southbank has a continuous acceptance process and accepts applications year-round.
  • Children applying for studies in 4th grade or higher whose mother tongue is not English take an online English test to assess whether their linguistic skills are at the appropriate level for their admission. There are various requirements depending on the entry level of the student.
  • After sending the completed application, the necessary supporting documents, fee for submitting the application, the selection committee will consider the application within seven working days and decide whether to recommend the child (children).
  • If the admissions committee recommends admission, the school checks to see if there are vacant seats in the class in which you applied. If the place is not available, the school places an application on the waiting list.
