Ross University was founded in 1978 as the medical faculty of the University of Dominica. In 1985, the institution received the status of a higher and the name of Robert Ross - an entrepreneur and founder of the faculty.
In 2003, the school was acquired by the DeVry Education Group, which provided students with assistance after the hurricane Mary in 2017: staff and students were evacuated to America, but six months after the disaster, classes were resumed.
More recently, at the beginning of 2019, the campus moved from Dominica to Barbados, programs were modernized, a number of specialties were added.
The educational institution has been accredited by the Barbados Medical Council, the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation under the US Department of Education, and the General Medical Council of Great Britain.
Education is based on the principle of “from general to particular”:
- In the first year, students of all specialties study anatomy, biochemistry, genetics, neurobiology, medical physiology
- In the second: microbiology, immunology, pharmacology, clinical medicine, psychology
- The third and fourth courses - distribution by specialty.
Ross University collaborates with Dillard University, Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science, Florida Agricultural and Technical University, and Tuskegi University.

Accommodation, meals, prices
Ross University does not have a hostel: students are located in the city, a special department of the educational institution helps them in finding housing. In order to move into the selected room or apartment, the student must obtain the approval of the university housing committee. Another accommodation option is the Ross residential complex, which consists of single rooms.
Students' meals are carried out depending on the accommodation option. There is a cafeteria in the educational building.

Facilities and equipment at Ross University
The new campus in Bridgetown was equipped by analogy with the previous one in Dominica. The university in Miami is located in the building of the Center. Lloyd Erskine Sandford on Two Miles Hill. The educational building consists of medical laboratories, centers of anatomical visualization, a simulation center and classrooms equipped with plasma screens, projectors, computers and office equipment.
Admission dates and extra charges
The academic year at Ross University begins three times: in September, January and May.
In addition to paying tuition, the student must determine a budget for accommodation, meals and travel to the educational building.

All applicants must have a bachelor's degree. It is necessary to provide:
