Description of The North Cedar Academy

  • Established: in 1962
  • Location: Ladysmith, Wisconsin, USA
  • Total number of students: 70 people.

The North Cedar Academy (North Cedar Academy) offers international students a balanced, quality and effective curriculum. The intensity of the training and the rich curriculum help students to acquire a unique opportunity: to receive an invitation immediately to the third year of the American University after the end of the middle-class program.

The overwhelming majority of students here represent foreign countries - more than 90% of students are foreigners. The Academy Administration seeks to develop children in academic, sporting, creative, social and personal terms, teaches them tolerance and mutual respect, shows how important it is to treat each person as an equal to himself, regardless of his skin color, origin or nationality. On the territory of the school there is a calm, friendly atmosphere, and the curriculum actively implements the newest educational methods and pedagogical approaches.

Much attention is paid to the safety of students - even though the city and the whole state of Wisconsin are considered to be among the safest in the country. The entire school area is carefully guarded in 24/7 mode, and all visits and exits outside its borders are monitored and recorded.

What advice do you have for applicants to American schools and why?

Take the time to study schools: seek information yourself and trust your educational agents, their experience and knowledge. Focus on those schools that fit your specific goals.

Ask questions! Attend job interviews, school trips, connect with staff and admissions.

Prepare well for exams - SSAT, ISEE or TOEFL - learn the rules for writing essays.

And, of course, discuss with your family the financial possibilities, the conditions of each school.

Go for it!

Quick overview: The curriculum for high school students fully complies with the high national standard of the United States.

In 9-10 classes each student receives an individual curriculum: the schedule is made taking into account his needs, level of knowledge and academic success. The program includes the following disciplines:

  • English;
  • Mathematics;
  • Physics;
  • Sport and physical education;
  • Health Sciences;
  • Chemistry;
  • History of the USA.

For students in grades 11-12, a unique curriculum is proposed that combines both the high school program of the American school and the university plan for the first Baclanar courses: the University of Wisconsin (11th place in the national university rankings) was taken into account in the development.

Three times a week students study at the university, spend two days at the academy; Additionally, each person attends 6 individual lessons with a teacher. The academic course is built individually - students can choose classes in the following scientific areas:

  • IT;
  • Anthropology;
  • Sociology;
  • Modern foreign languages;
  • Art;
  • Mathematics;
  • Biology;
  • Engineering;
  • Psychology;
  • Business;
  • Religion;

  • Philosophy;
  • Economics;
  • Chemistry;
  • Physics;
  • Geography;
  • Basics of Policy.

At the end of the senior classes and the basic secondary education course, students can earn up to 60 credits (credit units) - this is enough to "close" the first level of the university curriculum. Graduates can take advantage of a guaranteed guaranteed enrollment at the University of Wisconsin or enroll at the third year of any other American university: in this case, obtaining a bachelor's degree and degree will take only 2 years (instead of the standard 4).

Foreign students attend the English language supportive language course "English as a Second Language" (ESL):

  • Initial-standard level;
  • Level Intermediate;
  • Advanced level.

Accommodation, meals, prices

There is a spacious and cozy residence on the territory of the Academy, overlooking the Flambeau river: students are offered comfortable, fully furnished and equipped rooms for 2 people (toilet and bathroom in the room, separate). In public access there is a common kitchen, self-study classes, a campfire in the open air, a laundry room and a huge living room for students to relax together - there is soft furniture, TV and DVD, Xbox, table tennis and many table games.

Review about The North Cedar Academy

Alla
(26.11.2021)
An ordinary American college for high school students with a predominance of foreign students. They chose an inexpensive school in America. Since the child had excellent academic performance, they counted on receiving a partial scholarship. We turned to the Smapse agency with a request to choose such options. We were offered to make inquiries to three schools that could potentially give the biggest discount. All schools first had to take tests, send certificates and certificates with translation, and only after that the schools answered how much they could throw to study. North Cedar made us the maximum discount of 20%, and we liked the school itself initially more than all the others: good location, the director seemed pleasant, reviews on the Internet were also good. With the visa, the story was complicated. On the recommendation of the agency, they applied for a visa in Kazakhstan. We were approved, although there were many refusals to the Russians that day.

My son went to the Academy for 1 semester. He was 15 years old at the time. The idea was to send him first for a semester to understand how suitable the American system was for him at all, and then, if everything went well, to enroll in a high school program. My son liked the academy. At that time, they cost a little more than 25 thousand for a semester with a boarding house. Other options were much more expensive, besides, as it turned out, not all American schools accept for 1 semester, only for a year at once. We decided to enter high school for the last 2 years, but due to the difficulties encountered with obtaining an American visa, we decided that the child would go to study in England. Now the child is studying at an international college in Cambridge. It may be possible to get a higher education in the states.
