The Graduate School of International and Political Studies (HEIP) in Lyon is one of the leading schools in the field of international and political relations, with campuses in Lyon, Paris, Rennes, Bordeaux and London. The study area in Lyon provides its students with the opportunity to obtain a bachelor's degree or study in one of several master's degree programs.

HEIP is part of the large-scale educational network OMNES Education. Bachelor Program

  • The term of study is 3 years.

The undergraduate program allows students to acquire solid academic knowledge in international relations, political science, law, economics, geopolitics, and geoeconomics in three years. This cycle will give students a base of fundamental subjects and the first international work experience during the internship in the third year.

MSc Program

  • Age - from 21 years,
  • The term of study is 2 years.

Master's programs are adapted to the existing knowledge of undergraduate graduates. If a student has a BAC + 3 diploma, then the following courses are available to him on the campus in Lyon:

  • Diplomacy and International Relations,
  • Political Science and Public Relations,
  • Digital transformation of public services.

If the student has a BAC + 4 diploma, access to the program "Management of Public Affairs and Institutions" is opened.

Within two years, students will receive the qualification of a specialist who is able to successfully start a career and easily advance in their field. Over the years, students will undergo a mandatory internship that will give them applied skills and new acquaintances.

Accommodation, meals, prices

HEIP campuses do not have dormitories and do not provide housing outside their territories. Staff will be able to assist students in finding and renting apartments, rooms or apartments in any of the districts of Lyon by providing a list of trusted landlords and ensuring that the documents are completed correctly.

  • Pole Oratores is an association of eloquence that prepares students for debates and public speaking,
  • Agora Nostra is an association of politics and diplomacy that regularly monitors world relations and analyzes historical facts,
  • BDE Helios is a core group of students who organise activities and connect students with the school management.

Facilities and equipment at HEIP School of International and Political Studies in Lyon

Since 2019, the school has been located in the central district of Lyon. The building of the former historic Citroën building is shared by students from HEIP, ECE, INSEEC and ESCE, the institutions of the OMNES Education network. A lot of bright classrooms, interactive laboratories and recreation areas, as well as business incubators for the creation and development of projects have been prepared for students. The building has a cafeteria offering students hot lunches, snacks and drinks.

The Citroën building was built in 1932 and has long been considered the world's largest manufacturing analogue. A full-scale renovation ended in 2015, and now the former auto building building has been revived under the name "New Deal".

Admission dates and extra charges

Undergraduate and graduate students study from early September to mid-June in semesters. Between them, students take verification tests, and at the end of the year they take exams. Holidays are held in honor of national and international holidays, as well as in July and August. Saturdays and Sundays are considered days off, education lasts from Monday to Friday.

Enrolment process

  • Filling out the registration form and sending all documents,

  • Passing entrance examinations in English or French: written test and oral interview within 2.5 hours. If necessary, you can take a language test,
  • Getting results within four weeks,
  • Registration on campus.

Enrolment statistics

The school is quite selective, so only 45% of applicants from the total number of those who passed the entrance examinations can enter it annually.

The HEIP Alumni Network brings together more than 1000 specialists: they help newly graduated students find a job, do an internship and advance their careers. Most graduates hold managerial positions and are competitive employers in the field of international law, politics, and jurisprudence.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Future bachelors coming from other countries must meet the following requirements:

  • Personal documents: passport, visa or residence permit, health insurance,
  • High School Completion Certificate,
  • Transcripts with grades for the last two academic years,
  • A personal resume describing the achievements and goals for further education,
  • Certificate of English proficiency: TOEFL (from 79/550/213), TOEIC (from 785), IELTS (from 6.0) or French language proficiency: TCF / TEF (B2, C1), DALF (C1), DELF (B2).

Slightly different requirements are presented for applicants to master's programs:

  • Personal documents: passport, health insurance, visa or residence permit,
  • Bachelor's degree diploma (BAC+3 or BAC+4),
  • Transcripts of the last two years of study,
  • Personal resume, essay on achievements,
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher from a previous place of study, a supervisor or a project manager, if any,
  • Certificate confirming the level of English proficiency: TOEFL (from 79/550/213), TOEIC (from 785), IELTS (from 6.0) or knowledge of the French language: TCF / TEF (B2, C1), DALF (C1), DELF (B2).

Admission of new students takes place in September and February.
