Description of Farringtons School

  • Location: Chislehurst, Kent, United Kingdom
  • Educational programs: Preschool, Middle Class (KS1-3), GCSE, A-Level
  • Students age: 3 to 18 years
  • Total number of students: 650 people
  • Accommodation type: day and board (residence)
  • Type of studying: mixed.

The independent private school Farringtons School practices a mixed type of studying: boys and girls from 3 to 18 years can study here, and you can choose a day-long form of education, and one of the options for a boarding house (weekly or full). In total there are 650 students at the school.

The institution was founded in 1911 and initially took only girls for studying: the first students were the daughters of the followers of the local Methodist church (the official religion of the school is still Methodism, but children of any religion can study here). At the end of the Second World War, the campus began to expand rapidly, it had its own music school and scientific laboratories, a swimming pool and gyms were built. In 1994, the school merged with another female boarding house, Stratford House (founded in 2012): the joint educational institution began working in Farringtons School and was named Farringtons and Stratford House, but in 2004 it returned to the original Farringtons School. Since 2010, boys began to take up studying: at first only in senior, graduating classes, and since 2014 and on the other steps, and at school the mixed type of studying was completely accepted.

Farringtons School is distinguished by the balance, diversity of the curriculum, compiled taking into account the abilities and interests of children of different ages. They encourage personal initiative, interest and perseverance in teaching, try to put in children a strong motivation for diversified development - teachers believe that only a harmonious, all-round development personality can be successful in the modern world. The school has a dynamic, fruitful, friendly atmosphere: the children here are pleased to learn and relax, they feel the strength and ability to achieve high achievements. All infrastructure and equipment are aimed at satisfying the interests of each student, enabling his abilities and talents to manifest themselves to the fullest.

Independent and respected commission of the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in 2013 awarded Farringtons School the following evaluations on the most important criteria:

  • Excellent: for the quality of school management, for quality and the organization of the curriculum, the terms of study, childcare and safety, the level of education and development of children, the level of education and living in the boarding house, the quality of teaching, the quality of care for children, the organization of extracurricular education;
  • "Good": for working with parents, academic successes of children.

The campus is located in the small, very beautiful and cozy town of Cheeslhurst (Kent): its total area reaches 10 hectares - it is a beautiful forest park with lots of shady groves, bright glades for outdoor activities and sports. Get to the international airports of Heathrow and Gatwick can be 45-90 minutes respectively, and to London - only half an hour (the distance to the British capital is about 25 kilometers).
