The Centre of English Studies Vancouver (CES Vancouver) is an institution that offers English language courses for students aged 16-19. Programs are held during the summer months on the campus of the Academic Centre in Vancouver.

General English Course

  • Age — from 16 to 19 years old,
  • Start dates are every Monday,
  • The duration of the training is from one to four weeks.

The General English Summer Course is aimed at teaching students aged 16-19. Upon admission, students are divided into classes according to the level of language abilities, each is formed an individual plan for achieving their goals.

The program has two formats:

  • Standard: 20 lessons per week,
  • Intensive: 25-30 lessons per week.

Classes last 45 minutes. Curricula are aimed at honing the skills of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and replenishing vocabulary.

The course also includes daily weekday activities, a Saturday excursion. Pupils live in the homes of their host families and are provided with two or three meals a day.

Accommodation, meals, prices

CES Vancouver Summer Course students are accommodated in host family homes that are regularly screened. Families have been cooperating with the institution for many years, providing visiting students with the best living conditions. Living with a Canadian family has many advantages: from a comfortable environment to daily language skills education. Students are provided with separate bedrooms that have beds and desks, a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room are shared. Two meal options are available to students: half board — three times a day, half board — two meals a day. If necessary, the student can be provided with an alternative menu corresponding to his/her medical, dietary, religious characteristics.

The institution partners with several residential residences in Vancouver that provide alternative housing. In them, students will be accommodated in fully furnished private or dormitory rooms, use shared kitchens and bathrooms, and have access to a fitness center and laundry facilities. Residential buildings are a 10-12 minute bus ride to the campus.

The extracurricular program of the summer courses includes daily activities on campus aimed at team building, practicing spoken English, and broadening horizons. Students will take part in group workshops, games, talks, and on Saturdays they will travel as part of a study tour of Vancouver.

Students have a sufficient amount of free time after the end of classes, which they can devote to independent exploration of the surroundings and attractions, going to restaurants and shops, participating in city events.
