The College, in collaboration with the best higher education institutions in Central England, offers a range of higher education programmes in a variety of fields, from engineering and construction to law, nursing and social work. Among the proposed programs:

  • Business management and sustainable development;
  • Civil engineering;
  • Informatics;
  • Nursing;
  • Construction and urbanized environment;
  • Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, Drawing, Illustration, Three-Dimensional Animation, Photography, Moving Images or Textiles, Textures and Surface Drawing;
  • Performing arts (vocals, dances, drama);
  • Sports training and physical education (coaching, physical education).

The campus of the university consists of two parts - the campus of Burton Town Center and the Stephen Burke Building Academy.

Burton Town Centre Campus

A large campus in the central part of the city with all the necessary facilities for students. Located in the historic, business and cultural centre of Burton, in a location easily accessible by public transport.

In this complex are located:

  • Student libraries with funds totaling over 40 thousand books, several dozen sets of periodicals and continuing publications, archival materials, microfilms, as well as providing access to electronic full-text databases and subscription resources;
  • Modern university center with advanced laboratories and dozens of classrooms, a recording studio, a modern printing complex and other equipment;
  • 5 catering points, including a student canteen and a study café, the exquisite restaurant The Mulberry and a summer veranda;
  • Modern educational beauty salon Innovations Hair & Beauty.

Stephen Burke Building Academy

The second campus is located in Swastlinkot. This is a modern, comfortable and spacious building of special construction, in which there is a specialized center that accommodates all courses in the field of construction and sustainable development, dozens of modern workshops equipped with the latest high-precision and high-tech equipment for carpentry, carpentry and locksmith work, work with metal, brick, plumbing and electrics.

There is also a cafeteria, a computer laboratory, a high-power 3D printer that allows you to work with samples up to 2 meters high, a specialized library.

Activities Burton and South Derbyshire College

Students have access to various forms and opportunities for extracurricular activities: from additional sports (college teams represent the alma mater at local, regional and national competitions) to music lessons (choir, jazz bands, brass and string orchestras, several amateur student ensembles), visual and expressive art.

Student self-government is of great importance, the Model UN operates.

Other available opportunities for self-realization are a student radio station, an astronomical club (the college owns a small reflex telescope and an astroprojector), a media group and its own newspaper.

Located in the new academic building, the Faculty of Creative Studies provides students with access to funds for:

The Center for Business and Management brings together infrastructure and classrooms that contain the latest digital learning tools, several computer labs, and a convenient reading room.

The sports authority has a £1 million gym at the city's Snobnall Sports Complex. Here you can practice:

  • Basketball;
  • Volleyball;
  • Netball;
  • Cricket;
  • Futsal.

A treadmill, a dance hall, a trampoline and a climbing wall are also available.

The College Learning Resource Center (LRC) was expanded in 2003/04 to include 207 personal computers in addition to 22 PCs for searching the library.

Enrolment process

The admission process is lengthy and can take up to three months.  After filling out the application and registration on the site, you will receive a login and password to access your personal account on the official website; all up-to-date information on the progress of the application will be available there.

The Employment Centre assists in finding a job, offering a variety of skills that can improve the chances of a successful job search. The college partners with several hundred employers to provide apprenticeship or internship opportunities.  This is not only a way to gain valuable skills, but also to earn.  As a rule, the duration of the student program or internship is from 1 to 4 years, depending on the level, direction and intensity of education.

Internships and student programs are available to all who have reached the age of 16 years. They are available on three levels:

  • Intermediate (level 2);
  • Advanced (3);
  • Higher levels (4, 5 and 6).

Internships and apprenticeships include formal qualifications and help develop social and behavioral skills in demand by the student's chosen field of activity and industry.

Internship is:

  • Firm and fixed on paper obligation of the employer to hire an applicant;
  • Nationally recognized qualifications;
  • High-quality and industry-demanded skills;
