ArtCenter College of Design offers a new model of art and design education for the 21st century. The college's approach is based on striving for rich intercultural, transdisciplinary dialogue, providing students with innovative learning opportunities and creating innovative learning spaces.
Edward A. "Tink" Adams was an advertiser with a radical educational outlook: studying for artists and designers in real-world skills, preparing them for leadership positions in advertising, publishing, and industrial design. To this end, he assembled a team of professionals from the creative fields and launched ArtCenter in 1930, of which he became director. The viability of the idea, which he and a small group of colleagues put forward, was quickly proven: even in the midst of the Great Depression, ArtCenter graduates quickly found work.

The Center for Student Experience (CSE) provides students with resources to find off-campus housing in Pasadena and Los Angeles.
ArtCenter currently does not offer housing on campus. CSE offers information on various living conditions, search for roommates, rooms in houses, guest houses, apartments, information on utilities, amenities, rental costs and landlord contact information for each listing.

- The Hillside Campus is a modernist glass and steel building located in a forested area of Pasadena and has been home to the Art Center since 1976.
- South Campus is a developing complex, founded in 2004, includes a supersonic wind tunnel, a former post office, and a refurbished office building.
- ArtCenter DTLA - in 2019, ArtCenter announced a new satellite location in downtown Los Angeles to engage the local art community through exhibitions and workshops.
- The Petersen Automobile Museum, founded in 1994, was rebuilt in 2014 and now includes the 185 m² ArtCenter satellite studio.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol
- Applications are submitted online.
- A non-refundable application fee is required.
- Extracts from international schools must be submitted both in their original language form and translated into English by a translation agency, an official translator or World Education Services (WES).
- Requirements for knowledge of English: TOEFL - a minimum of 80 points on iBT, IELTS - a minimum score of 6.5.
- The portfolio is the most important aspect of the application, it should be focused specifically on the specialty that the applicant is applying for.
