Anif in Salzburg: a small commune in the vicinity of the city

History and features of the city

The first records of the city date back to the 8th century, its population is now about 4 thousand people. In a small area there are interesting sights, attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists:

  1. Castle Anif: you can walk to it by a small path, the castle is located in the middle of the lake - you can not get inside, but tourists can admire the external grandeur of the medieval building
  2. Lasseregg Castle, built in 1915
  3. St. Oswald's Church - open to tourists and famous for the sculpture of Christopher, which dates back to 1603.
  4. The old Milchgut Manor, bought by the authorities in 2009, has a caricature gallery, caricature contests and training in this art form.

The three-star Kaiserhof Hotel, open since 1348, also deserves interest. It is one of the oldest guest houses in Europe. The Junkerfest wine festival takes place every year at the hotel, which is named after the famous Junker wine brand that has been produced since 1995.

In addition to interesting sights, the beauty of the surrounding nature is sought after by artists and photographers. The city is surrounded by two rivers and the Untersberg mountain range. You can get here from Salzburg in 15-20 minutes - the distance is only 7 kilometers.

  • In 2008, during the construction of the nursing home, the remains of settlements from the 5th-7th centuries were found, which aroused great interest among researchers.
